Wow what a week and weekend. Last Friday we had the founder of YWAM Loren Cunningham share with all the staff and then after with many people from the bay area about Global Missions and mission in the bay area. It was amazing to see all the different ministries that participated in this event and to see what God is doing in the big picture in the bay area. God is on the move worldwide and he wants to use you as well. And if you wonder if you are called, the only reason that you are not is if God told you that you are not, since He already called each one of us (Matthew 28.18-20).
And on Sunday we had a big block party (which Jen helped to organize) where we met many more of our neighbors. It was an amazing event!!

Focus

I don’t know if you are into video or Photography, but if you are you know how important focus is. When you take a picture you need to make sure that you set your focus on the object that you want to be the center and blur out the rest. This example is also true for our relationship with God. When we sincerely read our bible, spend time in worship or Prayer something in us changes and our focus starts to be on God. But to achieve that it is good to break down distractions beforehand. As an example you have this thought of work that you have to do, instead of keeping it in your head, write it on a piece of paper so you don’t forget and then you can deal with it after your time with God. Also silence your phone or any other gadgets that could distract you. Make sure you also set a good amount of time so you don’t have to worry that your time is limited. When we put our focus on Him it will actually help us to connect with Him in a deeper way. But not just that, it will start to transform our time with God and us, because we start living like Jesus who said that he is only doing what he sees His Father doing (John 5.19-20). And we can only see and hear what God is doing by focusing on Him and learning from Him.

We want to challenge you to look at your life and see where you are out of focus. Find those areas and put the focus back on God. It will transform you and many others.

Wow was für eine Woche und was für ein Wochenende. Letzten Freitag hatten wir den Gründer von YWAM Loren Cunningham zu Besuch und er sprach zu allen Mitarbeitern und abends zu vielen Christen aus dem Bay Area über das Thema Mission Global und Lokal. Es war genial zu sehen wie dazu die verschiedensten Arbeiten aus dem Bay Area zusammenkamen und wie wir dadurch mehr von Gottes Plan für dieses Gebet sehen durften. Gott ist an der Arbeit weltweit und Er möchte auch deine Hilfe dafür. Und falls du dich fragst ob du berufen bist kann ich dir eines sagen: der einzige Grund das du nicht berufen bist ist wenn Gott dir dies gesagt hat. Andernfalls hat er bereits jeden einzelnen von uns in Matthäus 28.18-20 berufen.
Am Sonntag hatten wir dann noch ein Fest (welches Jen half zu planen) auf unserem Berg wo wir viele weitere Nachbarn kennenlernen durften. Es war eine geniale Veranstaltung!!

Fokus

Ich weiß nicht ob du dich für Video oder Fotografie interessierst, aber falls du dies tust, weißt du wie wichtig der Fokus ist. Wenn du ein Bild knippst musst du sicherstellen das das Objekt das herausragen soll im Fokus ist und der Rest ein wenig verschwommen. Dieses Beispiel stimmt auch für unsere Beziehung mit Gott. Wenn wir fokussiert unsere Bibel lesen, Zeit im Lobpreis und Gebet verbringen verändert sich etwas in uns und unser Fokus fängt an auf Gott zu liegen. Aber um dies zu erreichen ist es wichtig mögliche Ablenkungen im vorneherein zu eliminieren. Als Beispiel du hast diesen Gedanken in deinem Kopf über eine Arbeit die du machen musst, anstatt daran zu denken schreibe ihn auf ein Papier so dass du ihn nicht vergisst und dann erledige es nach deiner Zeit mit Gott. Stelle auch sicher das dein Handy, Telefon Computer etc. auf leise gestellt sind die dich ablenken können. Stelle auch sicher dass du extra Zeit einplanst das du keine Angst haben musst das deine Zeit ausläuft.  Wenn wir unseren Fokus auf Ihn legen, wird es uns helfen Ihn auf einem tieferen Weg kennenzulernen. Aber nicht nur das, es wird auch anfangen unsere Zeit mit Gott als auch uns zu verändern. Dies passiert, weil wir anfangen mehr wie Jesus zu leben der sagte dass er nur tut was er seinen Vater tun sieht (Johannes 5.19-20). Und wir können nur sehen und tun was Gott tut wenn wir unseren Fokus auf Ihn legen und von Ihm lernen.

Wir möchten dich herausfordern dein Leben zu analysieren und zu sehen wo du nicht fokussiert bist. Finde diese Bereiche und bringe in ihnen den Fokus zurück zu Gott. Es wird dich und viele andere verändern.

Hey our friend

We hope you had a great week. One of our highlights this week was a house concert at a friends house. It was amazing listening to them play. We also had a wonderful time at the coffee shop. The last few weeks have been a little bit slow and it might be because of summer time, but please keep praying with us for an increase of attendance

Learn from your Heavenly Daddy

When you read through the bible you see many times how God is choosing people that were mostly not the most educated. Just look at Jesus and some of his disciples. Some of them were fishermen and there family was probably doing that for generations. Fishermen was not a highly educated job at that time,so for them being asked by Jesus a Rabbi to follow him was a huge honor. But along with that Jesus didn’t keep them were they were at, instead he kept teaching them and they kept learning, and more important they wanted to learn. Most of the time he didn’t teach them in a traditional sense of a classroom, but more in the way of showing them how to do it and then have them do the same (Luke 10 Jesus sends out the disciples).

I believe this is something each one of us has to think about. We always have to position ourselves in an attitude of learning. Yes God chooses us the way we are. But to know Him better and also represent him well in this world, we have to learn from Him. We always have to live our life with an attitude and openness to learning something new. It can be through studying the bible, through spending time in God’s presence, reading books as an example on Gods character or by doing something that God called you to do and learning in the process. These are just examples, and there are many more ways but it is important that each one of us keeps learning from our father. Just remember Paul and how he talked to the studied people in Athens and how he used the unknown God as a way to bring Jesus to them. Of course he had to learn about that culture before he went and through that he was able to share with them in a way they understood. I want to challenge you to start looking this week on how to learn more from God.

Wir hoffen das du eine super Woche hattest. Ein Highlight dieser Woche war ein Hauskonzert eines Ehepaars aus der Gegend. Es war genial zuzuhören wie sie spielten. Wir hatten auch wieder gute Gespräche im Café. In den letzten Wochen hatten wir weniger Teilnehmer bei der Café Arbeit was an den Sommerferien liegen dürfte. Aber betet weiterhin dafür das wieder mehr Leute kommen. Vielen Dank.

Lerne von deinem himmlischen Vater

Wenn du dir die verschiedensten Menschen in der Bibel anschaust die Gott ausgewählt hat siehst du oftmals das er Menschen benutzt die nicht den höchsten Bildungsgrad hatten. Schau dir nur mal Jesus und einige seine Jünger an. Einige waren Fischer und ihre Familien übten diese Job für viele Generationen aus. Fischer galten in dieser Zeit nicht als die meist gebildeten Leute. Für sie, von Jesus einem Rabbi gefragt zu werden ihm nachzufolgen, war eine große Ehre. Aber etwas wichtiges das diese Situation zeigt, ist das Jesus sie nicht auf ihrem alten Wissensstand  lies, nein er unterrichtete sie und sie im Gegenzug wollten lernen. Meistens untererrichtete er sie nicht auf einem traditionellen Weg in einem Klassenzimmer, nein er unterrichtetet sie mehr in dem Er ihnen zeigte was sie tun müssen und sie es dann tun lies (Lukas 10 Jesus sendet die Jünger aus).

Ich glaube, dass dies ein Punkt ist, über den jeder einzelne von uns nachdenken muss. Wir müssen uns immer so positionieren das wir bereit sind zu lernen. Ja Gott wählte uns und liebt uns wie wir sind. Aber um ihn besser kennenzulernen und ihn auch besser in dieser Welt zu repräsentieren müssen wir ständig von Ihm lernen. Wir müssen unser Leben immer mit einer Offenheit leben neues zu lernen. Wir können dies z.B. tun durch: Bibel lesen und studieren, durch Zeit in Seiner Gegenwart zu verbringen, indem wir Bücher z.B. über seinen Charakter lesen oder indem wir etwas tun für das er uns berufen hat und durch die Erfahrung darin lernen. Dies sind nur einige Beispiele, und es gibt viele andere Wege dies zu tun, aber es ist wichtig dass wir täglich von unserem Vater lernen. Erinnere dich an Paulus und wie er zu den studierten Menschen in Athen sprach und wie er den Altar des unbekannten Gottes benutzte um Jesus zu Ihnen zu bringen. Natürlich musste er zuvor mehr über diese Kultur lernen bevor er zu ihnen sprach auf eine Art die sie verstanden. Ich möchte dich herausfordern in dieser Woche anzufangen mehr von Gott zu lernen.

We hope you had an amazing week. We had our review and evaluation meeting this week in which each ministry is evaluated. We brainstorm and pray in those times together on how to move forward. It is always a really encouraging and wonderful time. We are also amazed by looking back how much God has done in the last 6 month.

We also had a personal blessing through God last week. The friends from the boys and girls club gave us tickets to a Raiders game, my second and Jen’s first American football game. Through that we could join 2 of our staff who are going regularly. We had such a wonderful time. We are so thankful!

During the worship time on our Staff Retreat we sang Never once from Matt Redman and just by singing the lines I started to feel courage build up in me . How amazing is it to know that our father is always with us. I feel sometimes we say it but do we truly believe it? Do we believe it in the dark and hard times in our lives and do we believe it in the good days when everything goes by plan?

When you read through the bible you see it all the time how god confirmed the truth of how he is with us all the time. Here are some examples:

Deuteronomy 31.8 ESV: It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Deuteronomy 31.6 ESV: Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Joshua 1.9 ESV: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Matthew 28.20 ESV: Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Like I said these are only a few examples, but when you read through the bible you notice that it is full of passages that are talking about that God is with us in every circumstance. It doesn’t matter what you are going through, He is with you and has a solution for you. Our God is faithful!! But we also need to remember that this message is not only inclusively for us. Share it with people that go through their lives and don’t even know that there is father out there who wants to walk with them and loves them so much. Sometimes people right next to us like our neighbors need to hear that. Its not just the obvious person that is homeless, but it is often the old man right next to us that lost his wife, it’s the rich man who runs your company and doesn’t have anyone that loves him, it’s the woman that models and has no one to be real with, it’s the Hollywood actor that doesn’t even know who he is because of all the different roles he played. These are just some examples but again this applies to every person that doesn’t know the transforming love of Jesus.

Wir hoffen dass du eine super Woche hattest. Wir hatten ein Meeting in dieser Woche in der alle Arbeiten von YWAM ausgewertet und beurteilt werden. In diesen Meetings beten und denken wir mit anderen darüber nach wie wir weiter vorwärts gehen können.  Es war eine ermutigende und wunderbare Zeit. Wir waren so ermutigt zurückzuschauen und zu sehen was für große Dinge Gott in den letzten 6 Monaten getan hat.

Wir wurden auch persönlich in der letzten Woche von Gott beschenkt. Die Freunde vom Boys und Girls Club schenkten uns 2 Tickets für ein professionelles American Football Spiel der Oakland Raiders. Für Jen war es das erste Spiel das sie jemals live gesehen hat und für mich war es das zweite. Durch die Tickets konnten wir zusammen mit 2 unserer Mitarbeiter gehen die regelmäßig zu diesen Spielen gehen. Wir hatten eine wunderbare entspannende Zeit. Vielen Dank!!

In der Lobpreis Zeit auf unserer Mitarbeiter Freizeit sangen wir Never once von Matt Redman und  nur durch das Singen dieser Zeilen merkte ich wie der Mut in meinem Herzen wuchs. Wie genial ist es zu wissen das unser Vater immer mit uns ist. Ich habe das Gefühl das wir es manchmal sagen, aber glauben wir es auch wirklich?  Glauben wir es in den dunklen und schweren Zeit und glauben wir es in den guten Tagen in denen alles nach Plan läuft?

Wenn du durch die Bibel liest siehst du sehr oft wie Gott diese Wahrheit bestätigt, das er immer bei uns ist. Hier sind nur einige Beispiele aus der Hoffnung für alle Übersetzung:

5. Mose 31.6: Seid mutig und stark! Habt keine Angst, und lasst euch nicht von ihnen einschüchtern! Der Herr, euer Gott, geht mit euch. Er hält immer zu euch und lässt euch nicht im Stich!
5. Mose 31.8: Der HERR aber, der selber vor euch hergeht, der wird mit dir sein und wird die Hand nicht abtun und dich nicht verlassen. Fürchte dich nicht und erschrick nicht.
Josua 1.9: Ja, ich sage es noch einmal: Sei mutig und entschlossen! Lass dich nicht einschüchtern, und hab keine Angst! Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin bei dir, wohin du auch gehst.”
Matthäus 28.20: …Ihr dürft sicher sein: Ich bin immer bei euch, bis das Ende dieser Welt gekommen ist!”

Wie gesagt, dies sind nur einige Beispiele von sehr vielen in der Bibel die davon sprechen das Gott in jeder Situation bei uns ist. Es spielt keine Rolle durch was du gerade in deinem Leben gehst, Er ist bei Dir. Unser Gott ist treu! Aber wir müssen uns auch daran erinnern dass diese Nachricht nicht nur exklusiv für uns ist. Teile es mit Menschen die nicht einmal wissen das ihr guter Vater da draußen ist und nur darauf wartet Seite an Seite mit Ihnen zu gehen und sie so unendlich liebt. Manchmal brauchen die Menschen die direkt neben uns leben diese Nachricht. Es ist oftmals nicht die offensichtliche Person die obdachlos ist, nein es ist oftmals der alte Mann der seine Frau verloren hat, es ist der reiche Mann der deine Firma leitet und niemanden hat der ihn wirklich liebt, es ist die Frau die modelt und niemanden hat mit dem sie ehrlich sein kann oder es ist der bekannte Schauspieler der nichtmehr weiß wer er wirklich ist da er so viele Rollen gespielt hat. Dies sind nur einige Beispiele, aber dies gilt für jede Person die die verändernde Kraft von Jesus noch nicht kennengelernt hat. Erinnere dich selber daran und teile es mit jemand anderem.
