Love your Neighbor 80-20

Today we are talking about our favorite topic!! Find out more what exactly!

Hey our friend

We hope you had an awesome week!! This weekend we had the big North Beach fair. It’s a street fair that goes over a big part of the neighborhood with food, music and vendors. Its always amazing seeing how many people it attracts into our neighborhood, but also how many people from the neighborhood go. It’s a great way to connect with neighbors and to go together. If you have fairs in your area instead of going by yourself take a neighbor with you!

Jen and I are also getting ready for our time in Germany in a few weeks’ time. We are excited for it!

Remember this week that you are amazing and loved and remember to show your neighbor the same thing!

God bless you

Approach

This weeks video blog is on how we as Christians can approach things in different ways with different results. Be encouraged and challenged.

P.s. Here is a link to the info about the film Unplanned I was talking about. I recommend seeing it, but be aware its not a light topic movie to watch!!

Hey our friend

Jen and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary last weekend!! I can’t believe it’s already 7 years! Time flies. We are so blessed to have each other!

Besides that our week was also good. We had 2 great small groups, time with the kids at the boys and girls club a wonderful encouragement group and just so many wonderful moments connecting with the neighborhood just to name a few. One of our highlights was our potluck for our whole street. It was a wonderful time for all the neighbors and us and it was a joint effort between us and a few neighbors. A wonderful way to build community! My friend also bought me (Markus) a plane ticket to see him up in Seattle for 2 days which was an amazing time too!!

We want to encourage you this week to stand up for the things you believe in but do it with an approach of love not with an approach of being right!!

God bless you

Outlook

I give thanks to Adonai with all my heart
I will tell about all your wonderful deeds
I will be glad and exult in you
I will sing praises to your name Elyon.
Psalm 9. 1-2

Recently I was reading Psalm 9 and I love especially the beginning part. David shows us here the right outlook and perspective. In the moment he thanks God for things he did in his life and then also tells about his wonderful deeds his outlook is changing. It is moving away from maybe an outlook or perspective of fear or something else he is facing to God who has all the answers. While writing most of the Psalms David is going through some challenges in life. But instead of just looking what he can see with his eyes, he is looking at the things he cannot see. He is speaking courage to himself by reminding himself that he is on the side of the Most High!

So outlook is very important. Whatever hard time you might face in life it’s important that you are not just looking at the things you can see but choose to thank God and remind yourself of the amazing things he did in your life and the life of others. You can watch how your courage is rising and your perspective will shift. Your focus falls more on God and your relationship with him and not so much on the issue. And in that moment God can then give you courage to face whatever you need to face.

So the great thing is when you tell neighbors about the wonderful deeds of God in your life that opens up conversation and gives opportunity to share the good news. So start to give him thanks right now and start talking about the wonderful deeds!!

Hey our friend

We hope your week was wonderful!! We had our quarterly meeting with bay area ministries which was encouraging. It really helps when you spend time with others and hear their victories and struggles. That is why God always meant for us to be in a community. Even from our first day on earth he placed us in our family community. Let’s bring our neighbors into a loving community and let them see how God can move through it!! On that note we also had our wonderful neighbor brunch which was super encouraging. We love everyone who comes and they all became a community to us and to each other. So it makes a difference!!

So don’t forget starting today to thank God for the community you have or the one He wants to build through you and build up your courage!!

God bless you

Darkness lost its power

In a few days we are celebrating Easter. When you read through the gospels and the days leading up to Easter you see so much pain, betrayal and hurt. Everything seems to go down and no hope is left. The disciples followed Jesus for many years and now one of their own betrays him. Judas, even after hearing and seeing Jesus do miracles for many years chooses money over his friend and sells him to the ones who want to kill him. The rest of the disciples lose all hope and perspective for life after Jesus is arrested. I can’t imagine how that felt. For many years their lives main focus was Jesus. All they did was follow him and let him lead to whatever needs to be done. But now it is over. They are lucky that people don’t go after them as well and want to kill them too. When Pilate then gives the crowd the choice to free Jesus or a criminal prisoner hope comes back to the disciples. He must free him they think. The crowd would never choose the criminal above Jesus. But a moment later all hope is gone, the crowd chooses the criminal and asks for Jesus to be killed. A short time after they see him one last time at the cross before he would die. All the words are forgotten that Jesus told them that he would come back, that the reason he came is to be a sacrifice so we can all be reconciled with God. In the time of sadness, all memory of those words vanished. Sad and depressed all of them leave.

If the story would end here, we would have a very sad ending. It would mean Jesus didn’t fulfill what he came for. It would mean that the enemy wins and that all hope is gone. Last week I talked about that if the vision didn’t become reality it’s not the end yet. And that is the good news about Easter!! It doesn’t end at the cross!!

A few days later a big gravestone is rolled away. The first ones that come to the grave think that somebody stole the body of Jesus. They still didn’t believe the words he said. But then Jesus shows up and everything changes. Over time all his disciples and friends see him again. All of them realize that the words he said before became a reality. He overcame death and made a way back to the father. Darkness lost its power. Jesus is victorious. Out of that victory, the disciples found hope again and shared the good news about Jesus with the whole world. The good news that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. A story that started so dark and sad ends with the greatest victory. A victory that is as true today as it was yesterday and as it will be tomorrow. Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life!

Like the disciples brought it into the whole world let us bring it across the street to our neighbors and all the other people God placed in your life! Let us not keep this message of hope away from a world that desperately needs hope, a hope not for a moment, but a hope that will never go away. Remember in this Easter time how loved you are by Father God!!

Hey our friend

I love this time before Easter when we have the opportunity to think about the greatest, selfless man who ever walked the earth. It’s a time to reflect on how loved we are! We want to encourage you to think about this week! We had many events this week leading up to Easter with our church as well as in our neighborhood. It was wonderful. Pray with us for people in our surroundings to have this week an encounter with Jesus and his love for them.

We want to wish you a blessed and happy Easter!! Remember how loved you are!!

God bless you
