14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5.14-16
Recently we drove back to the city after dark. But even it was dark outside through all the lights in the city you could see perfectly. Jesus gives us an example about that that I really love in Matthew 5.14-16. Jesus compares us to a city on a hill that shines light and through that can’t be hidden.
What does he mean with that? He is talking about that we are the ones who let the light of our faith shine through everything we do. People can see in us the love of Jesus through the way we live and how we treat others and also how we share the good news. Our faith should not be a hidden thing, but it should shine all the time. It should shine in our work in our homes in our neighborhoods in our areas of our hobbies and all other areas of our life. When we shine the light of Jesus through us it attracts people and they want to know more. I saw this many times in my life, when I showed people how special they are how much more they were interested in what I had to say. They saw that I genuinely cared about them and saw through that Jesus shine through.
I believe that is true for you too!! I am sure you are bringing hope to people and shine the light of Jesus! I want to encourage you to be intentional this week to do that with people around you!! Let the light of Jesus shine through you to your neighbors at home, at work and maybe in the sport group.

We hope you had an awesome week!! We had a normal week here in San Francisco with dinners small groups, meetups and many other. We also went to a workshop of a group who plants little house churches to learn about their approach on sharing the gospel. It was an encouraging time!! Jen and I also had personally a wonderful week since we had a short vaca for our anniversary which was a lot of fun. We are so thankful that God opened the door for that!

Es kann die Stadt, die auf einem Berge liegt, nicht verborgen sein. 15 Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und setzt es unter einen Scheffel, sondern auf einen Leuchter; so leuchtet es allen, die im Hause sind. 16 So lasst euer Licht leuchten vor den Leuten, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater im Himmel preisen. Vor kurzem fuhren wir abends zurück in die Stadt. Aber selbst mit der Dunkelheit konnten wir durch die Lichter der Stadt alles perfekt sehen. Jesus gibt uns ein gutes Beispiel das ich wirklich super finde dafür in Matthäus 5. Jesus vergleicht uns mit einer Stadt auf einem Berg die ihr Licht leuchtet und nicht verborgen sein kann.
Was meint er damit? Er spricht darüber das wir diejenigen sind die das Licht ihres Glaubens in dieser Welt leuchten lassen in allem was wir tun. Menschen können durch unser Leben und wie wir leben, wie wir mit anderen umgehen und wie wir das Evangelium weitergeben die Liebe Jesus sehen. Unser Glaube sollte nicht etwas verstecktes sein, nein er sollte immer leuchten. Er sollte bei unserer Arbeit, in unseren Wohngegenden zu unseren Nachbarn in unseren Hobbies und allen anderen Bereichen unseres Lebens leuchten. Wenn wir sein Licht durch uns leuchten lassen macht das andere interessiert und sie wollen mehr wissen. Ich sah dies sehr oft in meinem Leben als ich Menschen zeigte wie wunderbar sie sind wie sie dann sehr daran interessiert sind was ich zu sagen haben. Sie sahen das ich mich wirklich für sie interessierte und sahen dadurch Jesus.
Ich glaube das ist auch wahr für dich! Ich bin mir sicher dass auch du Hoffnung zu Menschen bringst und das Licht Jesus leuchten lässt. Ich möchte dich ermutigen dies in dieser Woche bewusst mit deinen Nächsten zu tun! Lass Jesus Licht durch dich in deine Nachbarn, deine Arbeitskollegen deinen Sport Club und an allen anderen Stellen leuchten.

Wir hoffen das du eine Super Woche hattest!! Wir hatten eine normale Woche hier in San Francisco mit Abendessen, Kleingruppen und vielen anderen Treffen. Wir gingen auch zu einer Schulung von einer Gruppe die Hauskirchen startet um darüber zu lernen wie sie ihren Glauben weitergeben. Es war eine ermutigende Zeit! Jen und ich hatten auch eine tolle Woche da wir für unseren Hochzeitstag einen kurzen Urlaub hatten welcher viel Spaß machte. Wir sind Gott so dankbar das er diese Tür aufgemacht hat!
Wir wünschen dir eine super Woche und vergiss nicht das Licht Jesus durch dein Leben zu deinen Nachbarn leuchten zu lassen!

Jen and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary last weekend!! I can’t believe it’s already 7 years! Time flies. We are so blessed to have each other!

Recently I was reading Psalm 9 and I love especially the beginning part. David shows us here the right outlook and perspective. In the moment he thanks God for things he did in his life and then also tells about his wonderful deeds his outlook is changing. It is moving away from maybe an outlook or perspective of fear or something else he is facing to God who has all the answers. While writing most of the Psalms David is going through some challenges in life. But instead of just looking what he can see with his eyes, he is looking at the things he cannot see. He is speaking courage to himself by reminding himself that he is on the side of the Most High!
Vor kurzem las ich Psalm 9 und der Anfang ist einfach super! David zeigt uns hier die richtige Blick Richtung und Perspektive. In dem Moment dankt er Gott für die Dinge die er in seinem Leben getan hat und erzählt von all den wunderbaren Taten Gottes und sein Blickwinkel ändert sich. Er bewegt sich dadurch weg von einer Perspektive der Angst oder vielleicht Problemen die in bewegen zu Gott der all die Antworten hat. David hat die meisten seiner Psalmen in Zeiten der Herausforderung geschrieben. Aber anstatt nur auf das zu schauen was er mit seinen Augen sehen kann, beschließt er auf den zu schauen den er nicht mit den Augen sieht. Er ermutigt sich selber indem er sich daran erinnert dass er auf der Seite des Allmächtigen steht!

I don’t know if you ever felt that way, but sometimes God encourages you through the songs you sing in worship. Recently our worship team at church played the old song Great is thy faithfulness. While singing that song God showed me a in a deeper way his faithfulness in my life. It’s amazing how God can use a song.
Ich weiß nicht ob du mal das Gefühl hattest das Gott dich durch die Lieder die du im Lobpreis singst ermutigt hat. Vor kurzem spielte unser Lobpreis Team in unserer Gemeinde das alte Lied Great is thy faithfulness. Als ich das Lied sang gab mir Gott ein noch tieferes verstehen seiner Treue in unserem Leben. Es ist genial wie Gott ein Lied nutzen kann.
